In between days

Mo:

Wow, it´s difficult to combine work and holiday in the way I´m doing right now. Some days work - and some days off work. There has been a lack of continuity lately, and adding to the schizophrenic feeling is the fact that I´m leaving for London on Sunday. I´ve just come back to some sort of normality today, after returning from Croatia and Sunday sees me leaving for 5 days - again. This time, I´m the one having time off, whilst P is working.

Coming back from London I have 1-2 days at home until it´s re-packing the bags to go to Dalarna for 3 days... working 1 day on my return and then I´m booked for a convention in Florence.
We talked about traveling to Florence together and stay for 3-4 nights extra. I have to admit, though, that I felt fed up with my suitcase already in May, which meant I´m flying to Florence on the same day as the event and going back on the first best plane the next morning.

Since my work has taken me several times around the world in the last 12 years, traveling produces mixed feelings in me. It is not enough to love traveling in my line of work, you have to LIVE it.

Unless you have tried the lifestyle for a couple of years, it is difficult to understand what it is really like, packing your bags for the 1.000 time, dealing with morons at check in/airport security, eating unhealthy airport/hotel food, arriving and leaving for flights in the middle of the night/Godforsaken red eye flights, traveling alone, eating alone, sleeping alone, getting driven around by dodgy taxi drivers - convention employees, getting booked for dinners at 10pm and finally having the food arrive on the table around midnight (with your first class starting at 8.00am in the morning), arguing with hotel staff whilst trying to get them to understand that you do not want a smoking room/broken toilet seat/no heating-no air-conditioning/pets in the shape of ants/cockroaches/creepy crawlies, etc etc

What makes it worth it?

Being my own boss.
Doing what I LOVE to do. And getting paid for it.
Meeting phenomenal people/new friends from all walks of life.
Having cappuccino in Rome, Greek Salad in Athens and fish´n´chips in London.
Seeing the world and learning from other countries/nationalities.
Decide what I want to do next.
...plus a million more things!...

NOT having to

- endure a 9-5 job
- worry about dress code
- live through the 10am gossip
- deal with office politics
- listen to people daily who do not like their jobs
- ask for a salary raise
- ask for more holidays
- take sick leave when it´s 30 degrees outside
...oh, this list could go on FOREVER...

Until the space time travel capsule has become a reality, I will have to live with the physical part of traveling...

Now if somebody could just tell me how to find my work focus on the days in between?

Dirty Sexy Money

Mo:

Whilst "House MD " is having a break, I have a new addiction.

"Dirty Sexy Money" is ruling my nights in at the moment. My favorite Darling at this point in time is Rev. Brian - so mean, so sad, so funny and so f....cked up...whilst the most gorgeous woman on the show must be Candis Cayne, also known as the stunning transgender wonderwoman, Carmelita.

By the way, thanks to Helena, who sent a seriously funny photograph from her holiday in Croatia last year. Unfortunately, it showed a live willy and was...well, exposing a very naked man doing some improvised yoga on the beach. I´m not sure what the rules are concerning showing naked penises on blogspot.com, but I am not sure that the photograph is safe for the under 18s...
The photograph did win a runners up prize in "the most hideous bathing outfits in Croatia"-competition, though!... :D

Mo2daJo

Mo:

Back in Gothenburg after 3 lovely days away. First in Älmhult to see P´s fab family and then 2 days in Skåne/Halland with my girl, JO.

Thank you Jo and Lena for hosting such a great dinner in your lovely house. It (the house) is the equivalent of a PT having a six-pack. Let´s just say it lives up to the expectations one might have of an interior decorator´s home.

And to anyone who doesn´t know: JO is a kick-ass cook! She bakes! She makes fabulous food!
She is the perfect hostess! And lo, and behold - this girl is SINGLE for Christ´s sakes!!!

Guys, get a grip.

ÅKE! He is the coolest dog in Skåne. Please, check out the cake on the table in the background. JO made it - and it was DELICIOUS!
View from the house. Stunning.

Yes, we had sun ALL day yesterday! :)

Taking a walk in the Rye-field to feed the horses.

The Boss

Mo:

Yesterday I happened to pass Elite Plaza Hotel just as the Boss was about to enter the building.

He was short, with a green cap and glasses. He looked old, but happy and like a really nice guy.

By the time I realized "maybe I should get my camera out?" - this is the shoot I got:

Hmmmmmm.

It was scorching hot all day yesterday, so I took the opportunity to wear white hotpants! (YES, it´s true, but you could only see them in certain angles...) I went biking downtown to see a friend for lunch. I´m wearing my favorite "Sex in the City" mules - they´re red with flowers.
The outfit almost caused a few traffic accidents.

In the evening we went for a barbeque at my parents. Dad retired yesterday! Congrats, Dad!
Just before we were about to leave - P and I had just entered our car - the sky opened and the rain came POURING down. My sister and M was getting Daisy into the car, when the wind hit her umbrella.... Well, you can see for yourself... I laughed until I had tears in my eyes!....

To Set the Record Straight

A lot of people have been showing concern for ÅKE lately. I have been receiving e-mails, comments, postcards and phone calls and I just want to say that:

ÅKE IS ALL RIGHT

Thank You

THE LUCKIEST GIRL ALIIIVE

I GOT TICKETS TO LOS ANGELES

SURF'S UP BABA!

JULY I AM YOURS 15-30

YEAH BEJBI, HERE WE COME!!!

Can I have it/him TO GO please

You can add up the parts
but you won't have the sum
You can strike up the march,
there is no drum
Every heart, every heart
to love will come
but like a refugee.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering

There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.

I cannot say it any better then my friend did:

N: Do you think it is possible to take him home in a plastic bag?
Mom: I don't want him in a plastic bag!
N: But I don't think they will let us "just carry" him out...
Mom: Ok, then, I'm in. As long as it isn't a big black plastic bag, I prefer an organic.

Now it is time for breakfast in the green grass...

What does he eat for breakfast one might wonder..?

Top 3 hideous bathing outfits in Croatia

Mo:

Enjoy...

You have to double click the photograph to see the mooning man, taking the no 3 spot

And place no 2 goes to man in...well, blue sort of Speedos. I´m not sure that positioning is very comfortable for the nuts and the piece? Can men get "Camel toe"? I didn´t dare to look when he turned around...

But without ANY DOUBT or hesitation, the number 1 place - first prize - THE Olympic Champion in hideous bathing outfits in Croatia - goes to Mr. Leopard Speedos. Wonderfully 80s, wonderfully hideous. Congratulations!

Tonight is the Night

Listen to the music as you read...

My parents split up when I was 11. Mom moved into an old house up the hill (2km up the road, still it was a new village – yes, I grew up on the countryside).
It was the 1st of May and my brother and I were supposed to sleep in our new home for the first time.

Mom has told me this:

I walked around in the house, the bathroom was ICE cold, we slept on temporary mattresses and EVERYTHING was unfamiliar. I looked at her and said:

- Mom, How is this ever going to be OUR HOME?

It was like as someone dropped a huge heavy stone in her heart. She was alone, she bought a house that she renovated al by herself, trying to juggle a full time job, a divorce, two kids and the making of a NEW home.

I must say this: SHE DID WELL!!!!

I still remember the mornings when loud music from the ground floor woke me up, I stumbled downstairs thinking what the …. Id going on and I find my mom dancing around with the vacuum cleaner, making breakfast and singing from the top of her lungs – FIRST WE TAKE MANHATTAN THEN WE TAKE BERLIN…..

When I asked her this morning – which one of his songs is her favorite, she said this one!

Tonight I am taking my mom on a SURPRISE concert with HER MAN = LEONARD COHEN, as he will be playing LIVE at SOFIERO!

It doesn’t get better than this!

Honey, I´m hooome!...again...

Mo:

...and whilst I recover from the journey home, this is what the most southern tip of the Pula peninsula looks like...(stunning, eh?)...:

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful...(even with a dead body floating amongst it all...)

Febs and I relaxing by and in the CRYSTAL clear water...ahhhhhhhhh......(and no, we´re not doing naked bathing...)

It´s like being in your own private, giant swimming pool!!!....

...and of course, some posing for MOJO! (Right after being on the phone with JO for 30 minutes getting the latest updates!)

Who the f..ck do you think you are?!

Jo, really, you slept for about 3h – again totally forgot to do the “every other WATER” last night and still you go out for a run when he calls you up at 8am – you meet him at Linnéplatsen with your favorite WHITE NIKE Wind Runner, (little did you know that it would return home brown, green, black).

He DOES NOT run the way “normal” morning runners run. He runs like a five year old. You are hung over, have 3 hours of sleep in your body; you danced al night long and walked home in HIGH STILETTOS. Thank GOD you didn’t break a leg! (did you even notice that the sky was CLEAR BLUE?!)

After the 50min run up and down, in and out, above and under in 5,17 tempo you skip home, make breakfast, talk to your girlfriend and convinces her to join you for BODYPUMP!

Not only do you attend the BODYPUMP class, you try to break your personal record in the amount of WEIGHTS you lift!

I think it is time for VACATION!

Skåne here I come…

How much is too much?

Mo:

Leaving Croatia tonight (read: bloody early in the morning around 3am...). Driving back to Trieste, Italy to catch a plane to Munich and then on to dear old Gothenburg. It's been a good week. I can truly recommend you to go here if you are after crystal clear water, hot sun and lots of grilled meat.

And yes, although my brain has turned to mush in the bashing sun, my body has suffered even "more". I love sunbathing. And I truly appreciate a good tan. But during the last 10 years or so I've also come to realize that there could actually be too much of a good thing.... (ssssmart, eh?)
That is actually the case right now. I'm too tanned. Yes. It. Is. Possible.

I have used sunscreen SPF 20 all week (30 in my face, otherwise Affi = "my" beautican - would KILL me, and quite rightly so...no, I don't need a reality check, thanks...), but I have visited places were there haven't really been any shade. At all. (You will be able to see the pictures in a few days.)
So now my stomach looks like a sailor's face. Dark, dark, brown, almost leathery and certainly closer to black when it creases. Not beautiful, unless you are a dark colour naturally.
SKIN DAMAGE, AHOY!

Skin damage does not qualify on our (Febbe, P's and mine)
Top 5 list-in no particular order- on How To Stay Young:

1. Tasty, great food - that you ENJOY
2. Sleep (at least 8h per night, according to P and I, but then again, our friends call us "The Pensioners"
3. Fantastic, mindblowing Sex (Well, maybe we're not pensioners after all??....)
4. Love - through fabulous friends/family/partner, that make you happy and fulfill you
5. A good sunscreen

Have a great evening, I'm looking forward to coming home and travelling (yes, again) down south to have some JO time this weekend!
