Girls night out

MO:
We see each other too rarely, but when we do - sparks fly!
Anything goes: family, travels, fashion, work, relationships, work, children, a tiny bit of training (I´m the only one who´s a fitness nut in this company), social media, more work... I think you get the point.
Only one of us is employed, and her position is so special that she hardly knows her own title.
It could be: "SupadupamegamanagerbossresponsibleforestablishingthebusinessinHKandmainlandChina", but I´m sure that would not make her justice.
For the rest of us it´s the love and juice and challenge and freedom and creative madness that is self-employment, that´s the name of the game. Hence the work talk. And we´re not even close to being in the same line of work, which makes it even more interesting.
What is VERY predictable is where we go for food.
The Asian Invasion crew ALWAYS head down to the same Chinese restaurant.
Well, to be fair, we tried to go somewhere else tonight, but it turned out they´re closed Sundays. Their loss.

HOW predictable...

I LOVE these 3 gals, I really do.
Beautiful both on the inside as well as the outside.
And yes, the photographs are not supposed to do us justice. I like to keep this crew to myself.
At least for a little while longer.

Women who had IT in 2010

MO:
The year is coming to and end. Business wise, it has been an extraordinary year in many ways, with both highs and lows. The last couple of months turned out to be a rollercoaster ride that had more turns and twists than Balder... I´m ready to leave 2010 behind and LEAP into 2011. What will I bring and what will I leave behind in these new and fresh and exciting days ahead?

I will bring:
- more family time and less weekend work
- more work structure. I have an office from February 1, only that in itself will bring 100% better organization.
- my business partnerships. The only way to go.
- team work. I love my Incycle-crew!
- curiousness and courage.

What I will leave behind:
- a couple of really bad business deals, which sucked, but where I also learned a lot.
- the stress of the last 6-8 weeks of 2010. Some days I actually hardly recognized myself.
- not taking enough time off-for travelling, training and reading.

Who inspired me in 2010?
My family.
My students.
My team.
My new collaborations and partnerships.
Any famous people? Not that many actually, but here´s a few that did:

For her music, her charisma, but most of all for leaving the man who abused her and going public with it.

For her straightforwardness, her love of designer clothes, her "toys" and houses she bought herself - for her own money - in her LBZ (life before
Z) and how she indeed stands firmly on her own two legs, managing not only two, but in my opinion, three kids, one of which happens to be Sweden´s most famous footballer.

For her raw and real talent. For the full 3 pages spread in one of my favourite magazines, the British Marie Claire. For actually properly dressing up on the red carpet. For daring to leave, in more ways than one.

Does anything need to be said? Best song of the year, 2010, according to P3 is "Dancing on my Own". Of course. A social media QUEEN. Business- and entrepreneur savvy as few. Strong. Forward. And owned only by herself.

But, my biggest source of inspiration 2010 has come from a place very much closer to home.
With a few weeks exception during this last year, it has been my weekly fikas with the woman to the left in the photograph above that has been the most inspiring, fun, creative, mad and absolutely bloody wonderful. Thank you for 2010, JOJO.
2011 will be the year of the MOJO.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, MOJOs
MAKE all your wishes come true.

100% Earned

MO:
WHOOPA!
Thank you NIKE for thinking that MO & JO are 100% EARNED. :)
We´ve received beautiful, hand painted hoodies carrying our names.
40 Swedish women have been selected, because we, according to Nike, have "worked hard to be where we´re at and because we´re role models for other women out there".
NAJS!

Chaotic order

MO:
A day of chaos.
Good chaos in the morning - less good chaos in the afternoon.
Did PR in squats this morning and pushed 72.5kg on the bar. With more to give. YES!
Consistent work for 11 months is starting to pay off - and that´s on ONE good quality session a week! Imagine what could be done if I could squeeze only one more good lifting session into my schedule...?

The afternoon caused havoc in my work department. One of my projects seems to live a life of its own-and not in a good way. It will take some thinking through tonight to make some kind of decision to either hold on or to let go. Should I cut my losses now and loose what I have already put in, or should I stay and hopefully at least get my (financial) investment back?
Difficult decision.

In the evening, I decided to dedicate the energy of tonight´s spinning class to B. It happened quite spontaneously and wasn´t planned.

B is a true regular of mine. I´ve seen him for 2h every week for the last 4 years or so.

I know what he works with, I know his wife, I´ve followed the career of his kids, I´ve heard about their holidays, and I´ve seen him push and work and grow and sweat and passionately GIVE and exert himself week after week, month after month, year after year.

Hell, you know some of your clients for a lot longer than the life expectancy of the average marriage and you see them more often and more regularly than you hook up with most of your friends and even some of your family members!
No wonder you get shaken when something bad happens to one of them.

On Sunday, B passed out - at home in his garden - and was rushed to hospital.
Turns out he carries a very unwanted, horrible visitor. A malignant brain tumour that needs immediate removal.
I spoke to him on the phone earlier today to wish him well before his surgery.

B - my thoughts go out to you and your family. Come back soon.
Your bike and your bell will be waiting for you.

Storm in a teacup

MO:
The days are disappearing...well, not like sand in a time glass, more like a sandstorm in a tea cup...or something...

Had another great day, which started with me PUSHING myself out the door to go for an early morning run. It was extremely difficult to get myself out of bed to put on my running gear, but fortunately the weather gods were on their brightest mood today and offered a stunningly clear and sunny Gothenburg morning.

Had a lovely meeting with CC, who wanted to discuss entrepreneurship and how to put all those wild, beautiful ideas into action. CC - I am extremely flattered and humbled that you want feedback and input.
I am also absolutely convinced that we will hear/read/see more of this talented woman in the future.

Spent the rest of my working day with Christine, trying to get our heads around BABS, standing orders, cashiers, contracts, schedules, routines, etc etc. Let´s just say there´s more to these bits and pieces than meets the eye and it´s VERY time consuming. Not so much because of us - we are actually incredibly effective - but due to chasing bank people, telecom people, and other loose ends all over the place.

We did get a lot done though, and most importantly, we had serious fun whilst doing it.

Life´s too short to sweat the small stuff.

In search of PERFECTION

MO:
Where did the week go?
Tonight our American guests arrive and I´m so looking forward to a weekend of family- and friends time.

It´s been all go since we got back from Djerba and I´m amazed about how much fun/work/play/juicy stuff you can possibly cramp into one little life!

Again: What on earth did I do before???

Becoming a mother has clearly narrowed my focus even further, yet I have more new projects on the go than ever. How does that conundrum work?

Actually, the reason for this post is this: during the last few weeks I´ve had several very interesting discussions and conversations with some extraordinary women.
All of whom are top of the line in their chosen fields.
These women are employees today and all of said women have a dream of breaking out and starting up on their own.

What´s keeping them?

Well, here´s the interesting part, although these women are in very different work areas, the main reason to why they are hesitating going it alone, is one and the same, the search/wait/expectation/fear/longing/hindrance of perfectionism.

Somewhere deep inside these women, there´s a little voice probing them:

Are you really good enough? Will someone really want what you´re selling?

How often do you think that these thoughts stops a man from starting up his own business?
I think sometimes, but I do not think it happens as often. What do you think?

Listen to me: Perfection will NEVER occur. If that´s what you´re waiting for, you will be waiting a lifetime and more.
Yes, there are risks involved in going it alone and yes, it´s scary as hell at times and yes, be ready to work your ass off...but in the end is it all worth it? Hell yeah!

If you really and truly LOVE what you are doing and you have a shipload of common sense + dare to trust your gut feeling, you will be handsomely rewarded.

The freedom, the excitement, the rush of adrenaline, all the new incredible people you will meet and the amazing places (both physically and mentally) you will discover along the way, makes entrepreneurship the trip of a lifetime.

I´d love to see more women taking the leap and if I could encourage/inspire only one woman to put perfection aside and help her truly believe in herself and her talents, I would be so incredibly happy.

Make the first step today, however small.
Stop looking for "it". You ARE already THERE.
Do it now.
