Rock Your Body!

RADIANT CORE

Come and spend an afternoon at the forefront of our evolving
understanding of mind-body spirituality and psychology.

Radiant core brings an emphasis to the breath, core-conditioning, and body/mind awareness. Working with safe and highly effective asanas to stretch and strengthen your core, back and hips to tone your body.

  • Prana?
  • Chi?
  • What is "energy" really?
  • Harnessing the power of breath
  • Mind-Body healing and transformation in yoga
  • Grounded spirituality
  • Chakra anatomy

Johanna will explore topics like these and will then apply them to the yoga practice session.
We end by integrating the information and rich experience of practice with personal writing meditations.

Do you seen any Diamonds on the floor?!

A WOMAN'S WEEK AT THE GYM

This is dedicated to everyone who ever attempted to get into a regular workout routine :)

Dear Diary,
For my birthday this year, my daughter (the dear) purchased a week of personal training at the local health club for me.

Although I am still in great shape since being a high school football cheerleader 43 years ago, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and give it a try.

I called the club and made my reservations with a personal trainer named Belinda, who identified herself as a 26-year-old aerobics instructor and model for athletic clothing and swim wear.

My daughter seemed pleased with my enthusiasm to get started! The club encouraged me to keep a diary to chart my progress.

________________________________
MONDAY:
Started my day at 6:00 a.m. Tough to get out of bed, but found it was well worth it when I arrived at the health club to find Belinda waiting for me. She is something of a Greek goddess - with blond hair, dancing eyes and a dazzling white smile. Woo Hoo!!

Belinda gave me a tour and showed me the machines. I enjoyed watching the skillful way in which she conducted her aerobics class after my workout today. Very inspiring!

Belinda was encouraging as I did my sit-ups, although my gut was already aching from holding it in the whole time she was around. This is going to be a FANTASTIC week-!!

________________________________
TUESDAY:
I drank a whole pot of20coffee, but I finally made it out the door. Belinda made me lie on my back and push a heavy iron bar into the air then she put weights on it! My legs were a little wobbly on the treadmill, but I made the full mile. Belinda's rewarding smile made it all worthwhile. I feel GREAT-!! It's a whole new life for me.

_______________________________
WEDNESDAY:
The only way I can brush my teeth is by laying the toothbrush on the counter and moving my mouth back and forth over it. I believe I have a hernia in both pectorals. Driving was OK as long as I didn't try to steer or stop. I parked on top of a GEO in the club parking lot.

Belinda was impatient with me, insisting that my screams bothered other club members. Her voice is a l ittle too perky for that early in the morning and when she scolds, she gets this nasally whine that is VERY annoying.

My chest hurt when I got on the treadmill, so Belinda put me on the stair monster. Why the hell would anyone invent a machine to simulate an activity rendered obsolete by elevators? Belinda told me it would help me get in shape and enjoy life. She said some other shit too..
_______________________________
THURSDAY:
Belinda was waiting for me with her vampire-like teeth exposed as her thin, cruel lips were pulled back in a f ull snarl. I couldn't help being a half an hour late - it took me that long to tie my shoes.

Belinda took me to work out with dumbbells. When she was not looking, I ran and hid in the restroom. She sent another skinny bitch to find me.

Then, as punishment, she put me on the rowing machine -- which I sank.
_________ _ _____________________
FRIDAY:
I hate that bitch Belinda more than any human being has ever hated any other human being in the history of the world. Stupid, skinny, anemic, anorexic little cheerleader. If there was a part of my body I could move without unbearable pain, I would beat her with it.

Belinda wanted me to work on my triceps. I don't have any triceps! And if you don't want dents in the floor, don't hand me the damn barbells or anything that weighs more than a sandwich.

The treadmill flung me off and I landed on a health and nutrition teacher. Why couldn't it have been someone softer, like the
drama coach or the choir director?

________________________________
SATURDAY:
Belinda left a message on my answering machine in her grating, shrilly voice wondering why I did not show up today. Just hearing her voice made me want to smash the machine with my planner; however, I lacked the strength to even use the TV remote and ended up catching eleven straight hours of the Weather Channel.

________________________________
SUNDAY:
I'm having the Church van pick me up for services today so I can go and thank GOD that this week is over. I will also pray that next year my daughter (the little shit) will choose a gift for me that is fun -- like a root canal or a hy sterectomy. I still say if God had wanted me to bend over, he would have sprinkled the floor with diamonds!!!

Happy training Jo

Would YOU wanna have my Weekend?

Sorry that I haven’t been righting the last couple of days. I have been on a from South to North Tour and I decided NOT to bring my computer (thinking it would be one thing less to stress me). I am having a hard time deciding weather it was an amazing great bombastic fantastic weekend or not… perhaps you can help me out?! Here it is in short form:

FRIDAY

o Since I am a very optimistic person I did my laundry Thursday NIGHT (and fell asleep and left it in the dryer (torktummlaren). Thinking it is OK; I will get it early tomorrow morning!

o Friday Morning at 0650 – ALL my laundry is GONE! I looked everywhere! I should tell you that there are 2 locks that you need a key for in order to enter the laundry room.

o I was soo pissed off! Ran into my appt and wrote THE FIRST Angry Public note in my life. Asking Kindly that the THIEF should return my laundry IMMEDIATELY!

o After Breakfast I see a dude walking away with MY LAUNDRY BAG. So I run after him. He smells of cigarettes and alcohol. He says that his friend said that he could take it. Being as stupid as I can be, I don’t want to accuse him for something that he perhaps didn’t do on purpose. So I just say ok, but could I please have my stuff back?!

o I get it back, but it turns out that it isn’t even 25% of my laundry! The rest is still missing!

o Rush to the train (without my “original planed packing” )

o Arriving I meet my best friend MANGO, turns out we are on the same train ☺

o BAD thing, we are not the only ones on the train. There is also a Big Bunch of 50-year-old party people probably going to Copenhagen, already Drunk as hell.
It smells and they are noisy!

§ Eating a FAB sandwich at Emmerys, my fav Organic resturant/cafe in Denmark! Mumms!

o Teaching BodyJam and Body Balance quarterlies for Les Mills in Copenhagen. The participants are great, the jammers really rocked!

o Train back to Malmö, arriving at my hotel 0015, sooo tired and the only food around is BURGER KING, piiiiiiii

SATURDAY

o 8-10am I enjoy an amazing breakfast with my m
other. She arrives looking gorgeous and a handsome man tries to pick her up right there in the Hotel Breakfast lobby, hahahha my mother is soo qte, she doesn’t now what to do and blushes before we run off out into the city ☺

o 10-12am I teach the BodyJam quarterly in Malmö at FORUM: The ladies rock!

o 1201am I jump into a taxi to the Airport (note that I didn’t have the time to shower!)

o 1250am my plane leaves for Bromma

o I have 2hours to k
ill at Bromma Airport ☹ I decide that there is no fun in the Entrance hall so I decide to pass security looking for a nice place to wait in. I do not know Bromma airport. If I would have I wouldn’t have made that decision! Guess what… there is NOTHING after passing security!

o Flight to UMEÅ, meeting the Gorgeous NIKE team! We stay at a soft hotel with an amazing sauna.

o Having eaten a big breakfast and then NOTHING…. I was starving. So when we sit down in the restaurant at around 730pm I order the biggest piece of meat that I can find on the menu! Ren carpaccio and RyggBiff ☺ With some red wine ☺

SUNDAY

o Waking up feeling totally bloated.

o Rushing down to the breakfast, we have 10min (I am a SLOW eater)

o On the spot at IKSU 720am

o First class starts at 9am Jihaaa
o I feel heavy, tired, and have NO energy what so ever. Try to participate in the Challenge class and the Afro but I find that I have no energy. And then it starts: I rush to the toilet every 20min!!! I guess my body didn’t enjoy the yin and yang diet from yesterday (adding that I hardly ever eat any red meat).

o Teaching my FUNKTIONELL TRÄNING after lunch, I was a bit nervous (not having been able to stay away from the bathroom for more then 20min max before) But I guess that you get so much energy from the participants that you JUST DO IT! The class went great and the participants amazed me.

o Afterwards I was totally out though!

o Driving to UMEÅ Airport, this airport is even worse then Bromma! Me and Andreas have to kill 2,5hours there (I fall asleep on the dining table)

o Arriving at Arlanda we find that our plane is out of order, they have to find a new one!

o I arrive in my appt Sunday night 0045am EXHAUSTED and sleep till 10 the day after!

o Phuu, there you have it!

Good Night Jo

Back at school...

Mo:

First day on the last week of my International Coaching Certification Course... It´s fun to be back at "school", (although my butt is sore from all the sitting in one day).

Coaching is such a powerful method of guiding people towards excellence. I had no idea what a structured method coaching is before I did this course. Most of the "coaches" I had come across were self-taught, and did everything but actually coach (ie mentoring, therapy, lecturing, giving free advice, etc etc).

The goal with coaching is to free the individual´s (the "coachee´s") full potential.
To help open for possibilities, find answers, motivation and commitment within the coachee, take away hindrences, give support, focus and driving force, and most of all create RESULTS.

I have a few plans on how I´ll be able to incorporate Lifestyle-coaching in my already jam-packed schedule... It´s a trained skill and I want to get going straight away, whilst the knowledge is fresh. I´ll let you know how, when, where as soon as it´s settled.

Saying of the day?

"Impossible" is a word that cannot be applied to the future.

ZZZZZZzzzz....

Mo:

Wow, I´m tired.

Finished a 2-day InCycle Certification Course today. Had 16 participants from such different places as Karlshamn, Åmål, Munkfors, Hönö & Halmstad.

Stayed up late last night after having gorged myself stupid on beautiful crayfish, prawns and crab... (Thanks M&M for a fantastic feast!) ...so I felt just a tiny bit tired this morning and quite shattered by the end of the day.

Tomorrow I´m starting my last week on the ICC-coaching course.
I´m back at school 9-19 for the next couple of days. I´ll try and do my training before class... Wish me luck with that...

From October I´ll be taking a few clients on, to keep developing my coaching skills. P and Matt are just laughing at me, wondering how the h..ll I´ll find the time for yet another job. My answer?

I´ll sleep when I´m dead.

Hey GORGEOUS!

Mo:

How fascinating it is to get to know yourself through the eyes of others. Has it ever happened to you that you have met with an old friend/work colleague/aquaintence that you haven´t seen for a long time and during your conversation the person drops a comment about your personality: "...oh, yes, I knew you would be able to do that! You were always so..._...._..." or you meet someone completely new and that person tells you: "So you are _! I´ve heard so much about you! You´re the one who.._..._....."

A lot of the time this is the way you´ll find out about the good things that people are saying "behind your back". (And please, NEVER worry about the rest, never sweat over the negative stuff - you´re very unlikely to have THAT told straight to your face at any one time anyway, unless you´re in a really nasty fight with someone...)

Why are we generally so bad at complimenting each other "live"? Is it because we feel stupid/like we´re fishing for compliments back/or because we think that this person already knows how good/nice/wonderful/professional/kind/beautiful he/she is?

Let me tell you something, no matter how fabulous this person is, he/she still needs to hear it.

It´s actually a great little exercise, both giving and receiving compliments. Even if you can give compliments, how many of you can receive a compliment straight on - with a smile - and a simple "thank you"? Instead our response very often includes something like: "...oh, thanks, BUT..bla bla bla.NOT..bla bla.....BUT YOU on the other hand...bla bla bla....." Compliment wasted.

What do you really think about the people you surround yourself with? The people you hang out with/work with or live with? If there are people who make you happy, inspire you, lift you up, are kind to you, let them know. Go on, tell them, it will make their day.

Note: if the people close to you do nothing of the above: Then it´s time for a reality check, that´s all I´m saying.

Go on - You are a Queen.

Mo:

I must have been in a bit of an off mood today.
Strange, when you consider I got a lot of work stuff done + managed to meet up with both Å, my family AND do a 35 minute killer Kettlebell-workout before lunch.
I noticed that not even doing the laundry would shake the feeling off. (Yes. Weird fact about me: doing the laundry soothes and relaxes me. Whhhoooha. Yes. Weird. I know.)

So when working, working out, doing the laundry and working a bit more didn´t help, what to do?

I dug around my old CDs for awhile and finally found exactly what was needed... After crankin´ the stereo up, singing along (very loudly!) whilst dancing around in my living room to India Arie´s "Video", I feel SOOOO much better!

"Sometimes I shave my legs and sometimes I don't
Sometimes I comb my hair and sometimes I won't
Depend on how the wind blows I might even paint my toes
It really just depends on whatever feels good in my soul

So get in where you fit in go on and shine
Clear your mind, now's the time
Put your salt on the shelf
Go on and love yourself
'Cuz everything's gonna be all right

I'm not the average girl from your video
and I ain't built like a supermodel
But, I learned to love myself unconditionally
Because I am a queen"

Super Saturday - the 3rd point of view

A BIG UP for Marit, our QT guest blogger who came al the way from Estonia to play at SUPER SATURDAY with us!!!

What are two without the third :) I was the participant!

Well, it was just magnificent! Like WOW!! I really enjoyed the event!
Seems that the event has some kind of MAGIC POWER! Everybody who were there are talking about it and all the others who weren’t there are anxious to know what was there and to see the pictures!

So, it really is something special!
The classes were so powerful! And I did 5 classes! Including the Bodypump Competition class! That was something.. mm.. Something really HARD!

I passionately did two BC classes and the Bodyjam was just from another level, the hottest class, with G singing there.. Even better!

And then came the PARTY! Night's special - THE BUFFALO! Believe me or not, but my friend got 7 buffalos at that night! And obviously she got a bit drunk! :) Party people, You need to learn drinking from Your LEFT hand! Especially, when there are people from Les Mills near You! AND especially Dan Cohen, no chance to drink from Your right hand and not a get a buffalo, when he is around! :P

Another special at the party - HIGH HEEL SHOES! Yeah, all the girls who had them know what I'm talking about! You can ask JO! ;) And there were a lot of them, wearing the “2HOUR SHOES” at least for 5 hours, I mean at least!!!

Some of us wore them even longer (NOTE: Not ME, Jo, I even got kicked out of Cafe Opera for NOT wearing them, Oupss)! We all know, beauty needs sacrificing, even if it means that Your feet are still in the shape of shoes in the next day's evening! I must say flip-flops were the best footwear for the next day, well they were actually the only ones that fit!

All You Les Mills Heroes.. Beat it! Shake it! Pump it! Ride it! Wave it!
Kick it! Step it! Stretch it!

Love,
Marit

POWER up

Mo:

Could this be one of those weeks? When time just FLIES past and suddenly I wake up next Monday morning and think "Where the hell did the week GO?"
Since I´m aware of the feeling already, I will do my best to land here and now. Be in the present moment and enjoy.

Woke up this morning feeling sluggish, so decided to stay in bed for another 30min. HUURRAYY! How many people do I know, who have the luxury of doing that? Take another 30 min in bed, just because you wake up feeling a bit sluggish??? Eh, not many.

Knew I would feel quite smashed after Stockholm and after almost 2h with my new best pal, the Kettlebell yesterday (had another KB-education), so pampered myself with a facial before lunch.

My beautician is incredible. She spent 2h (!) on my face and yes, I was positively glowing when I left. (After having snored my way through most of the treatment. Charming.)

I did miss the 12 o´clock Yoga class with Mango though, since I wasn´t done until 11.59, but we had a quick lunch together instead. The rest of the day has been spent in front of my computer, working, and tonight I´m guest teaching a class at Kristinedal.

Planning for a power nap in the next half hour or so. One of the best ways possible to re-charge the batteries.

Other great ways for POWERING UP:

- Going for a run - comfortable pace

- Dance around your living room (or office) to loud music

- Do a headstand

- Have a great coffee (this only works if you normally only have 0-1 cups of coffee/day)

- Take a fika/lunch with one of your hilarious/positive/funny friends

- Having sex (but watch out, this can also backfire and work the totally opposite way by making you incredibly sleepy!)

Opposites attract

Mo:

There was a great opportunity to stay on in Stockholm yesterday for the BIG P.A.R.T.Y night.

I choose to go home to P instead. Had a quiet, lovely evening at home and spent the day racing around the forest picking mushrooms...

Bliss.

Let´s just say: Chantarelles on toast in my house tonight...

Super Saturday 30 august, Stockholm, Sweden

Mo:

Back from Super Saturday.
I had a nice time - thanks to everyone who came and kicked ass in my cycling class!

The Les Mills-machine is impressive. The way that they package their programs is second to none. It´s no secret how they manage to entice the industry to follow their products year after year - it´s all in the branding and in the culture they´ve managed to build around the "Les Mills-family".

It´s also easy to see why Les Mills are particularly strong in Sweden. The Swedish trainer team have more strong/professional Les Mills presenters than any other country I´ve visited. Many of them are "stars" in their own right, i.e. Petter, Fredrik, Charlotte, Anna P, Katarina Å, Åsa F, Dorotka, Oscar and of course our very own JO.

Thinking about it, it´s amazing how Les Mills has managed to attract and keep so many great names, especially since what the trainers are really asked to do, is to push somebody else´s product. Cred to Jesper at Les Mills Scandinavia/Balticum who is the one responsible for handpicking such a great team.

So, were any of my prejudices about a Les Mills-event true???

Yes.

This is part of a conversation that I overheard in the Presenter´s room - names have been withdrawn to protect the innocent....
Person 1: "..Man, I´ve stayed off the lollies for 9 days to look good for this event!!!"
Person 2: "I couldn´t say I have today...look, there´s hardly any candy left - and I think I´ve eaten half the bowl!" Points at half eaten candy bowl. (It´s one of life´s great mysteries why there always have to be candy bowls present in Presenter rooms in Sweden)
Person 1: (obviously not listening to person 2)"...but I couldn´t say that what I´ve drunk during the last couple of weeks have been very helpful!..." Big rounds of laughter.
Person 2:"I remember before the World´s...it was crazy!...pushin´n´kickin´ myself into shape!"
Person 1:"...Great PARTY tonight! I´ll finish my last class and have a beer!!!"

What has also come to my knowledge in the last few days, is that 1 person in the Swedish presenter team (no names, I said!) went on a "diuretic diet" 1 week before the S-S event. Which meant that last Sunday this person tried to consume gimongus amounts of water, before "starving" the body of liquids for God knows how long. Why? To look harder and more ripped for today. Of course.

Prejudice 1: You want to be in the LM-team? You´d better know how to looked ripped on stage. At all costs.

Prejudice 2: You want to be in the LM-team? You work hard - and you play even harder.

I´m obviously too old, too tired and too boring to be part of the family.
But I had a great time at the family do! Thanks for inviting me.

Body Jam gets hall 1 groovin´

My AWFUL packing style close up. Yes, it´s really tha
t bad still.

Terese Alvén, famous blogger-friend (from Veckorevyn) and I, right before my class.

JO´s hand joining the Body Attack class! I promised John that the next event that we both teach at, he will come to my spinning class and I will...go to his Body Attack. Let´s just say: I draw the short straw...

MOJO Super Saturday style...please note: picture taken straight after our classes!

Dan Cohen (Body Combat) & "Dr Dave" (Body Balance) hangin´ after class.

"Eloine" striking a pose during Niklas Liljesand´s "Freestyle"-dance class...
We had SO much FUN!

Let´s just say that this pose was NOT a part of Niklas class....

Getting CHARGED!

Mo:

Bags are packed and I´m ready to go.

Barely alive…

I am still here on this planet; it is just that lately I have been doing some HARD working!!

After a weekend with MAGSJUKA, I made it home to Gothenburg.

Monday: Teaching 2 classes, barely surviving!

Tuesday: Feeling a bit better but OVER DID IT! Teaching CORE 45min, rehearsing Bodyjam 120min, teaching at BalettAkademin 3hours, teaching a BodyCombat/BodyBalance Challenge outdoors class 90min! Even the fact that I was thinking of going to Muay Thai after that pretty much reveals some of my “issues” (I don’t like missing out on things!!!!).

Wednesday: Teaching Yoga60min, Yoga90min, rehearsing + teaching BodyJam New release 120min, running to meet MO at Vasaplatsen (had about 0min to get from A to B) only to find out that the classes I am attending are NOT 30min long, but in total close to 2hours! And I don’t even do SPINNING!!!! Good thing MO is soo good looking ;)
Thursday: Teaching Yoga, train to Sthlm and I thought; well, can’t just sit around, I have two hours to kill so why not go to Bikram Yoga?! I have done this type of yoga before but tonight was NOT my night! Let me tell you why:

1: Yes, perhaps I was a bit exhausted physically from the previous days, BUT I actually felt quite rested ☺

2: The problem was that the room was full of BEGINNERS. How can this matter you may ask?! Well, let me tell you. Bikram yoga is HOT HOT HOT and a set of quiet challenging poses, which are always the same. With beginners in the room the teacher had to talk us through each asana which made some of us (me) hold the poses for FOREVER!!!!! Even the pauses were too long, it is damn hot in there and if I’m going to do HOT BAD ASS YOGA for 90min I need someone to teach in a strict, focused manner, not allowing me to think and ponder about 10000 of other things….arrrrgggg!

3: It is all in your mind! As soon as ONE person starts to give up and sits down, all white and pale, suddenly the rest of the class starts to drop out as well. All of a sudden, 85% of the class are not participating, only sitting on the mats like little gold fishes that fell out of their bowls, chipping for AIR! Even I started to think about if the room REALLY was heated to the right degree, perhaps the thermometer was wrong and it actually was 85°C in the room, hmmmm, yeah, I am probably right?!!!!! Yeah Right, NOT! It is all in our mind, I only have one thing to say: Group Pressure.

4: When you are in an advanced class it is not that the people are doing harder or more advanced physical postures, it is the FOCUS, you can cut it with a knife. I guess this is why I keep on coming back to Bikram. The HEAT, It is all in your MIND!!!

Looking forward to an Organic Breakfast Buffet tomorrow before I head to YogaShakti and It’s Yoga for some delicious classes. Lunch with fab LINA from NIKE and then all WORK; WORK WORK. Met Dr Dave tonight, I think we’ll make a great team on stage on Saturday! If you are in Sthlm, please join us!
Love Jo

My new rubber-come-bling-washing-up gloves! PLEASE check out the RING (yes, it came with the gloves) and the little crystal on the black lace. The gloves were a present from my sister. She saw them in the shop and immediately thought about me! I do wonder why?...
