Go, go, go YOGA flow

Mo:

We´re picking up Mr. Handstand King - Jonathan Monks - at Säve airport tonight at 9pm. His class tomorrow has more than 65 people signed up for it! Awesome.
For anyone who can´t join us tomorrow, you will have another opportunity on Saturday at 9.30am. If you are a yoga fan - be there. Jonathan´s humble, soft but yet powerful style is not to be missed.

Keeping busy this week, which is good. Working on my business idea, doing administration work for In-Cycle, preparing for the 2009 Functional Tour and trying to settle my schedule for the autumn. Which is a challenge since there will be a "sliding doors" moment around August 25/September 3. A bit like living in parallel universes....Reality 1 and Reality 2.

On Saturday night we´re hosting my sister´s wedding party which they are having in our apartment. It´s a long story how the party ended up at ours, but we are very happy to have a bunch of glam people eating, drinking and dancing the night away here at the weekend! You know me by now - I love any reason to dress up and get the heels out! Great photos are expected!

Remember to join me for a kettlebell-workout this Sunday 17 august at 15.00!

(Probably shouldn´t tell you this... I´ve had emails, sms´s, facebook messages from Gymnasium´s instructors all weekend, telling me about which and how many painkillers they´ve been forced to take Saturday/Sunday after Friday´s kettlebell education...Training soreness taken to a whole different level...)

A GUEST at the MOJO Blog

Lets give a big shout out for our FIRST Guest Bloger here on MOJO:

MARIT JÄNES from ESTONIA

Subject: Warning!

Saturday afternoon, I just arrived back to Tartu from Tallinn. I
even don't remember why anymore, but I did check my bank stuff from the
internet after all the e-mails.. And!!!! There was a huge shock for me,
only 5 estonian crowns was left on my account, it's so little money, that
in euros it'll be a few cents :D LOL.. A big mystery, where is all my
money?!?!?!! When I checked a bit around there, I found out that someone
had paid with my credit card in SIDNEY, AUSTRALIA, which is way far from
Estonia.. And I've never been there!
I called the bank and asked to close my credit card immediately!
Now it's closed and nobody can use it again! Including me, I had to order
a new one! But until then I have to pay with cash, but I'm not good at
paying with cash.. At the end of a day I'm always wondering where did I
spend all that cash.. LOL..
And then started to deal with finding out how could I get the money back..
Now the people from bank are checking why and how and where etc. Well,
they promised to handle it as soon as possible.. I'll be waiting!

So, The warning:
Always keep Your eyes on Your credit card and never let anyone (in bars or
shops) to walk away with it! Or, order Yourself an extra credit card with
extra bank account, which You use only for paying in not that nice places!
I took the last opportunity! ;)

Morgonstund har GULD i mund

I’m back in business and that means early mornings.

I love getting up around 545am, I wake up to my Cd player, sometimes it is Coldplay, this morning it was NERD ☺ There you have it, I have a VERY wide library when it comes to music (books as well when I come to think about it). Anyhow… I meditate, wash my face with ICE COLD water, jump into my NIKE gear and walk the 150m down to my GYM. At 7am I teach my first class (on Tuesdays it is CORE 45min). The members are awake (they wouldn’t dare not to be☺ ), the music is inspiring and we all fight to the beautiful end, together as one. The vibe is soo beautiful in the morning classes cause everybody really made an effort to be there, they are dedicated and they are ready to give it their all. Much cred to them (If you want to join us, just send me an e-mail and I’ll take u in as my guest!).

I stroll back to my appt and enjoy this FAB FRESH FUEL FRUKOST. I just started it actually; my lovely yogi Mango inspires it. I take whatever I have (this morning it was beetroot, carrot, apple and ginger) and mix it in my juicer. In this fierce juice I add 1matsked Glutamine, 1 matsked Super Greens, 1 matsked Linfröolja and 1 matsked Mega Vital (all these jummy things can be bought at HAGA GRÖNA in Gbg).

At around 9ish I am ready for breakfast nr 2 but that’s a completely different story ☺

Have a FAB day

U Can't Be ME I'm a RockStar

I was more scared to attend the Festival then I was traveling al by myself to India… that pretty much says it all!

I have never been to a Festival in my entire life!!!
What I did when I was a teenager?
I worked during the summers, mostly with dance productions. And when I wasn’t dancing I was spending time with my French cousins and my grandmother in Båstad, and when I wasn’t doing that I was traveling. Man, time flies!

My first dilemma: What the f..ck do you wear at a Festival? It is in the middle of the day, it might rain it might be sunshine and you are gonna stand (or jump) under an open sky for approximately 10hours. (Perhaps this is just I, but when I do something, I do it ALL THE WAY. I don’t pay 1300sek to see 1 or 2 concerts!)

I went with a white t-shirt, a comfy navy Burfitt dress and my WHITE NIKE DUNK LOW ☺
In my brow leather (it felt very Kate Moss) BOSS bag I had Gojiberries and black mini parkas! I was all set to go.

Entering the Festival area I noticed that EVERYONE were wearing rubber boots…

The former green park had turned into a mud pool

And I was the Festival Rookie ☺

I saw:
FRIDAY
Iron n Wine – a bit boring
Mando Diao – The guys rocked but I didn’t know a single song
Looptroop – What humble amazing guys, loved the FRA song!
Franz Fredinand – At least I know one song here (Take Me Out) and it rocked

(Went home to rehears my AfroPowerDance Foundation training that I managed this weekend. And I was suddenly stuck in front of the TV and the opening of the OLYMPIC GAMES, ohh my god, breathe taking)

SATURDAY

I learned from my mistake and took my RED rubber boots!!

NERD – Oh My God! I could have seen this gig and this gig only… I was on cloud seven
Lil Kim – Oh My God, what a disaster, what a trashy babe!
Håkan Hellström – I cried, Känn ingen sorg för mig Göteborg, Kom igen Lena and Det är så jag sager det (I think that ALL the girls, perhaps even the men in Slottsskogen wished that the last song was written to them!)
The Flaming Lips – Amazing, what a show, teletubbies, red bouta balloons, fireworks, aliens, u name it, it felt like being on acid.
Neil Young – Hardly remember but at least I can say that I was there ☺

In the evening I had VIP tickets to the NERD After Party at PUSH, but even how bad I would have wanted to go, it was impossible. There was not a single bone in my body that could have taken me there. I tried to tell myself that Pharell Williams isn’t the man of my dreams (I struggled a lot here) and that by staying home I received GOOD KARMA since I gave him away to another “fan” and that way gave here “THE night of her life” ☺

Would I do it all again?
I’m not convinced. One thing I know is that I wouldn’t teach a group fitness teacher training at the same time!

The Race is on

Mo:

The following was published today at the Arctic Startup Blog:

http://www.arcticstartup.com/

"Wonderswap.com applying to Seedcamp

Wonderswap.com, a Swedish based start-up, has applied to Seedcamp along with These Are My Brands, BuzzPal and just recently Scred.

Wonderswap aims to create a marketplace and a community that will support the need to re-cycle amongst a new generation of people who are tired of the “buy-and-throw-away-mentality”.

There’s not that much to see on Wonderswap’s website at the moment, but their CEO, Monika Björn, told us that they´re planning to have a Beta out by this autumn/winter. The secrecy is understandable to some extend, since Seedcamp rules suggest that your service should not have launched yet."

Right now I´m in Arvika. I had forgotten just how beautiful Värmland is!
Meanwhile...

Business on my mind

Mo:

I´m sorry I´ve been lost for a couple of days..but I´m back now!

After spending the last 48h getting our Seedcamp-application ready in time

and preparing for the first ever Kettlebell-grouptraining education, I´ve been just a little busy. Now both things are done and I must say - I´m so excited about Seedcamp I cannot sleep at night...

Seedcamp is an international business competition for new IT-ventures. The selection process is tough and on August 25, 40 teams are selected to go to London to impress a jury. 20 teams out of the 40 go on to win a week in London to learn the ropes from some of Europe´s most successful entrepreneurs, lawyers, venture capitalists, technicians, etc and out of those 20 teams, 5 teams go on to win the top prize: € 50.000 and three months of business drilling in London.... Need I say more? (Hahaha, don´t even ask me what my idea is. I cannot tell you just yet...)
The only things I CAN say: I am the founder. It has got NOTHING to do with fitness. Check out www.wonderswap.com and sign up for our newsletter to keep posted...

I´m travelling to Arvika tomorrow, back Sunday and on Monday I´m off to Mjölby. (It´s like, where IS that?) On Tuesday Jonathan Monks arrives and then we´ll be hosting him and Liz for the next 6 days.
Anything that keeps me highly occupied until August 25 is fantastic.
Wish me luck...

By the way: much LOVE and RESPECT to the Gymnasium-crew who made the training day SO much fun and such easy work! Love you guys!

It's totally Friday

You can have it all.
You will live forever.
And the best is yet to come.

What does Yoga really mean?

If you find yourself looking uncomfortably at your fellow co-yogi in class because they are “in your space” look again and re-think the situation!

Yoga is about union. Uniting your mind and body but also creating a welcoming space around the globe. Creating community and ability to feel compassion.

In the words of my kundalini teacher Tej: “We need to unite, us the light forces must build a strong community so that we can keep the dark forces out!” And the she laughed her unique witch laughter with her sparkling eyes and crocked finger pointing at two girls in the room: -“Do you know each other?”, No they replied. –“Then talk to each other, get to know echoer, why not?!”

Another great yoga teacher teaches union in a more physical way!

See for your self...

His classes are always packed, and he hardly ever denies any participants, not matter how late they are. You standing in the middle of the room doing sun salutation thinking how the heck is he going to fit even half a person in here somewhere?! But he does it, there is always space in the universe, in fact all we have is space! Open up and share it!

"Vinnie is the ultimate yoga instructor... skilled, occasionally brutal, yet compassionate and witty."

~ Robert Downey Jr.

After Vinnies class in Venice Beach, Los Angeles. Peter, Mo, Vinnie, Me and Magnus. NO we did not take a shower…

"Next time Johanna, bring an extra towel!" - Vinnie M

So next time you see someone trying to fit in (physically or mentally) give him or her a helping hand. Welcome them into your space and you might grow.

BLOATED - check, FAT- check, UGLY- check

Mo:

50% of the population will not have any idea what I´m talking about. (But you could learn a thing or two...)

4-7+ days/month life runs in slow-motion for a large portion of women. Symptoms include feeling:

- bloated, which leads you to feeling:
- fat (yes, fat. It doesn´t matter which size you were to begin with...) which leads you to feeling:
-ugly (and I´m sure even Gisele Bündchen has had this feeling) which leads you to feeling:
- sad (and sometimes you even cry to the latest edition of ER) which leads you to feeling:
- angry (why the f...ck do this sh...t have to come back EACH MONTH?!) which leads you to feeling:
- miserable, because now you are bloated, fat, ugly, sad, angry + on top of all that you will bleed uncontrollably for days on end! Absolutely fabtastic news, eh?

Very few women feel none of the symptoms above. Not to mention the havoc many women go through during their PMS. Which is a completely different nut to crack. Isn´t that quite incredible? This means out of a 4-week working month, we will most probably not perform as well as we could 25% of the time?! Let alone the extra costs of being a woman, have you guys any idea of how much tampons, sanitary towels and Ipren really costs? Every month - for about 40+ years?!!

Different remedies help for different women.

Here are mine.

How to beat the period-blues:

- sleeping in (ehhhh...how many employed people have got this choice?...sorry...)

- exercising (yoga or gentle jog, getting some oxygen into the system is a great pain reliever)

- staying away from sugar (which I try and do anyway, since it just makes me feel even more lethargic)

- cuddling (works 9 times out of 10. As the partner, if you dare approaching your woman whilst she roars like a lion and cuddle her, she will turn into a purring kitten. If it happens to be the 10th time though, she might bite your head off...or something worse)

I´ve noticed in the recent year that having less carbs and more fats in my diet have almost "cured" my PMS completely. And I used to be...lethal...in the days running up to my period.

By the way, a few tips for any partners out there, not really knowing how to deal with your girlfriends/wives during their PMS: stay calm. W.h.a.t.e.v.e.r they do or say - do stay calm. Talking back or even worse raising your voice, will most probably bring on WWIII. Either in plates flying, doors slamming or tears the size of the Geneva lake.

During their period
: Do NOT try to give a medical explanation to why she feels miserable, bloated, fat, ugly, sad and/or angry... Example 1: "You see honey, it´s normal. All these hormones...bla bla....bla..." Not a good idea if you want your head to stay on your shoulders.

Example 2: Do NOT try the "...but sweetie, your stomach is the same size as a week ago? No, you don´t look bloated/fat/ugly...." Repeating the BAD word will NOT help! Just say that she is beautiful and that you love her. No explanations needed.

...Good luck! It will probably only last another 20-30 years more, or so...

Short dictionary for menstruation-challenged people:
PMS = Premenstrual Syndrome
is a collection of physical, psychological, and emotional symptoms related to a woman's menstrual cycle. While most women of child-bearing age (about 80 percent) have some Premenstrual symptoms, women with PMS have symptoms of "sufficient severity to interfere with some aspects of life". The symptoms may vanish after the menstrual flow starts, but may continue even after the flow has begun.

Had A BAD Day…

Ok, sometimes the whole UNIVERSE works against you. It’s like it is trying to see how much shit you can take, how you survive under the pressure of watching a totally “normal” Sunday turn into one of those HELL Days!

For example:

1 Went to an amazing yoga class – Sunday Church! (How could this be bad you may ask yourself? Well, this kinda set the “ribban” (standard) for the rest of the day. With a start like this the expectations are ON!)

2 Farmers Market in Venice – I paid 20 bucks for parking before realizing that it was FREE

3 Stood in line (45min) for what seemed to be “the best omelet in town”, it turned out IT WASN’T!

4 Left my new MICHEL KORS Silver limited edition watch + Efva Attling ring when washing my hands in the restroom. Realized it 10min later at Starbucks, went back and …
NO it wasn’t there. Apparently someone needed it more then me (at least that’s what he or she must have been telling themselves picking it up and NOT returning it! Arggggg)

5 Went to the beach, got a parking ticket (I am now 100dollars minus on parking only)

6 Bought a Smoothie, did a drastic right turn and spilled the entire Acacia gegg all over my rental car (the car was crème color, acacia is PURPLE!)

7 Drove to an AMERICAN APPAREL SALE downtown (2hours in traffic), upon arrival I found a 4hour long queue to get in. I pull out my “I am a Swedish journalist from ELLE, writing about AA blablabla showing my Swedish ID saying it is my Journalist IDcard", get to talk to the BOSS and have to do a “fake” interview (fuck) with him before I get to enter the sale. The sale SUCKS!

8 I drive home only to find out that I need to leave “my temporary home” within 1 hour!!!
I am now HOMELESS in LA

How’s that for BAD KARMA

What the f..ck happened?

Can you beat this?

BLISS

Last night, as I was sleeping,
I dreamt--marvelous error!--
that I had a beehive
here inside my heart.
And the golden bees
were making white combs
and sweet honey
from my old failures.
